Why clean and retension my data cartridges?
Have you ever thought what the loss of data would mean to your business?
Many people do not realize that the data cartridges they faithfully use each day, may not restore in an emergency. Can you risk it?

There are two principal sources of contamination found on magnetic tape.

  1. The primary source of contamination is the computer tape itself. It is a "wear" product and is self-destructive by nature, since approximately 80% of all contaminants found on magnetic tape are self-generated.
Vist our News article Cause and Effect to read more about contamination.
  2. The second source of contamination is the contaminants found in secondary air in data centres. These contaminants are not only responsible for media read/write errors, but also for ESD (Electro-static Discharge) which causes electronic failures.

Ensure your tapes are cleaned and tested regularly. Follow our recommended maintenance schedule.
